Concrete Removal in Statesboro, GA

Concrete Removal · Statesboro, GA

Old concrete broken out and hauled off your property

Concrete removal is the job of getting an old slab out of your yard for good. Watson Outdoor Living breaks out driveways, slabs, patios, walkways, pads and steps around Statesboro. The CAT 308 excavator cracks the concrete into pieces small enough to pick up. The root rake grapple loads those pieces into our dump trailer. We take the load to a disposal site and rake the spot clean. What is left is bare dirt you can build on or plant.

Most of these jobs are one slab on one property, and that is the size we book. It might be a cracked driveway, a patio nobody uses, a walkway, or steps left from an old porch. We look at the concrete first, because thickness and rebar change how long the work takes. Access matters too, since the truck and dump trailer need room to get in close. Estimates are free. Call or text (912) 712-6034 or send us the size of your slab.

What does concrete removal cover?

Concrete removal covers the flatwork sitting on the ground around a house. Driveways and aprons, garage and shed slabs, patios, walkways, pads and steps all come out the same way. We take the whole slab out rather than patching around the broken part. Small footings left from an old porch or carport come out too. These are small residential jobs, and most run a half day to a day or two. One slab on one property is normal work for us.

There are concrete jobs we pass on, and we say so when we look at the work. A house slab with the house still on it is a teardown, not a slab removal. Pools, commercial lots and anything at that scale need a bigger outfit with different equipment. If material might contain asbestos, have it tested before anyone touches it. Wood sheds, decks and porches are a different job, and they fall under our small structure tear outs.

How a concrete removal job runs

Every concrete removal job starts with a look at the slab. We check how thick it is and whether it has rebar or wire mesh in it. We look at access too, since the excavator, truck and dump trailer all have to get in. Digging gets called in first, because Georgia 811 must be contacted before anyone digs. Breaking out a slab and digging along a footing both count as digging.

On job day the CAT 308 breaks the slab into pieces and lifts them clear. The root rake grapple loads the broken concrete into the dump trailer. Bulloch County convenience centers take household waste from county residents only, and contractors are prohibited from dumping there. So the load goes to a disposal site that accepts contractor loads. Footings and buried pipe sit deeper than flatwork, and that part is digging below where the slab sat. The spot gets raked clean before we pull off.

Concrete removal around Statesboro and what moves the price

We work out of Statesboro and cover about 50 miles around it. That takes in Brooklet, Metter, Claxton, Sylvania, Pembroke, Rincon and Richmond Hill. You can check the towns we cover from Statesboro before you call. Ground here is sandy, so most slabs sit on soft dirt instead of rock. That makes the pieces easier to lift out, and it leaves loose dirt to shape once the concrete is gone.

HomeGuide puts concrete removal at $3 to $8 per square foot. It puts a 200 to 600 square foot driveway at $1,200 to $4,500. A 20 by 20 patio runs $1,200 to $3,000. Those are published ranges, not our price. Most spots need something after the concrete leaves. We can shape the bare dirt back out so it drains. Where the ground sits low, we haul in fill and pack it. Some customers put stone down, and some bring in a concrete crew for a new pour.

What You Can Expect

How a Job With Watson Runs

From the first look at the property to the last pass of the grapple, here is exactly how it goes.

1

Look at the Land

We come see the property first: the growth, the ground under it, access for the machines, and what you want the land to become. Clearing prices live in details a phone call cannot see.

2

Free Estimate

You get a real number and a real timeline, and what it covers is spelled out: clearing, stumps, grading, debris. It holds unless the scope changes, and you hear about any change before it costs anything.

3

Machines Do the Work

The CAT 275 and 308 show up when we said they would. Brush gets mulched or piled, trees and stumps come out, dirt gets shaped, and debris leaves on the trailer.

4

Finish Clean

We go over the finished ground with you before we leave. Smooth dirt you can mow, grade or build on, and a property that looks better than the day we pulled in.

How much does concrete removal cost?
HomeGuide publishes $3 to $8 per square foot for concrete removal. It puts a 10 by 10 slab at $300 to $800 and a 50 foot sidewalk at $750 to $1,250. Those are published ranges, not our price. Type, size, thickness and reinforcement move the number. We give you a free estimate after we look at your concrete.
Can you take out a concrete driveway and put gravel down instead?
Yes. The CAT 308 breaks the old driveway out, and the grapple loads the pieces into the dump trailer. Then the ground under it gets shaped and packed before any stone goes on. From there we can build back a gravel drive on a packed base. Both halves can run as one job.
Do I need a permit to remove concrete?
Rules change from one city or county to the next. Check with your city or county office before work starts. One rule always applies. Georgia 811 must be contacted before digging, and breaking out a slab and digging along a footing both count. We call it in before we start.
What happens to the old concrete?
It leaves on our dump trailer. Bulloch County convenience centers take household waste from county residents only, and contractors are prohibited from dumping there. So broken concrete from a job goes to a disposal site that accepts contractor loads. Haul off is part of the job, and the spot gets raked clean.
Does rebar or thickness change the job?
Yes. HomeGuide says slabs under 4 inches thick with no reinforcement are the cheapest to remove. Rebar and wire mesh hold the pieces together. A reinforced slab comes up in mats that take longer to load. Thicker concrete takes more passes with the excavator.

Truly one of the best young men I’ve worked with. Him and his team exceeded my expectations. I’ve had them come for landscaping and debris removal, and each time I’m pleased. I recommended him to a few co-workers of mine and they consistently thought the pricing was reasonable.
